Prof. Conel William O’Donel Long Alexander  1879 – 1920

info from family tree for better legibility   he was Hugh's father

Professor of Engineering, Univ College, Cork.  O’Donel in his name may be a form of the ODonnel in his mother’s name unless the latter was

misspelled in the census entry.  However, O’Donel is thought to be the correct form and it  has a long history.  One ref is a country house in County Mayo which leads to the Tyrconnells known to be in the missing family tree.   You can see O’Neill  in Encylopaedia Brittanica .  Teresa remembers her father talking about “Neill of the Nine Hostages” (+ Conel of Tyrconnell).
